What is nail styling? Well-groomed hands and nails are our business card. They allow you to make a good first impression, add confidence and improve your mood. No wonder that nail salons have become quite a common element of the urban landscape. Numerous stores with nail accessories tempt with colorful varnishes and shiny decorations. What is nail styling and what are its types? Can you do it yourself or is it better to leave your hands in the hands of professionals?
What is nail styling?
The concept of nail styling usually means a whole range of treatments in the field of nail care and decoration. Such treatments may include removing the cuticles and shaping the nail plate (e.g. by trimming or filing). But that’s not all. Styling includes not only the cosmetics of natural nails (e.g. polishing the plate), but also extending them with UV gels or acrylic nails, as well as painting with varnishes.
The styling uses both hybrid and regular, colored and colorless varnishes. In addition, nails can be decorated by painting patterns on them, sticking tiny crystals and other decorative elements. They can be dulled with special sand or additionally polished. There are many possibilities. So every lady can choose the type that best suits her lifestyle and preferences.
Manicure – care first
Comprehensive care should be the basis of any nail styling. It is important to properly remove the protruding cuticles, model the shape of the plate with a suitable file, and smooth its surface.
It is necessary to ensure sufficient hydration of the hands and nails. In every wholesaler of nail cosmetics, you can easily get special care products in the form of creams, lotions or concentrated serums. The serum with a brush allows for easy application of the preparation on the nail plate and the cuticle around it. Vitamin supplements, available in the form of varnishes, also have a beneficial effect on the condition of the nails. Thanks to regular care, nails become stronger, do not break, and their decoration gives better results.
Nail extensions with UV gels
What to do when nails, despite regular care, are not strong enough? Or if they don’t want to grow to the length we dream of? In this case, it is possible to extend them.
There are several methods to choose from, the most popular of which are sticking acrylic nails and extending the nail plate with a hybrid nail extension gel. Recently, the latter method has become particularly popular. Hybrid gels, applied to a natural nail plate protected with a special primer (base), are cured under the influence of a UV lamp, which initiates gel polymerization.
Nails extended in this way can be given any shape. The new gel plate will be durable, resistant to cracks, and will give the impression of beautiful, healthy nails. Gel nails are often the basis for styling with hybrid varnishes, although hybrid gels are also available in a colored version, which do not require painting.
Which nail polish to choose?
Until recently, the choice of varnish was about the color or type of gloss. Clear and colored paints were available, in pastel or bright colors, with a metallic sheen or an elegant matte effect. However, surfaces coated with ordinary varnishes are not very durable and after only a few days the entire styling procedure must be repeated.
Hybrid, polymer varnishes do not contain solvents in their composition, thanks to which they are much more durable than ordinary ones. The high level of pigmentation makes it possible to achieve the effect of very juicy, vivid colors. In addition, the effect of such a manicure lasts for about 3 weeks. Hybrid nail polish, however, requires the use of a special UV base and a protective layer, the so-called coat. In addition, the hardening of the varnish is triggered by the radiation of the UV lamp. You also need to remember about the special procedure for removing such varnish. If performed correctly, a manicure with the use of hybrid varnishes does not damage natural nails, and its durability saves time and money. After all, visits to the styling salon can be much less frequent!
Japanese manicure – minimalist styling for the demanding
For ladies who, for various reasons, do not want or cannot wear long nails in flashy colors, a Japanese manicure is the perfect solution. This is a kind of care combined with minimalist styling. Performing such a manicure, the stylist removes the cuticles, moisturizes the nails in a special bath, and then polishes the nail plate with special stones. Nails look very well-groomed and healthy. Japanese manicure is usually supplemented only with a delicate colorless or nude varnish, often enriched with vitamin complexes.
Can nail designs be done at home? Of course – basic manual skills are needed, at least when it comes to decorating the nail plate. However, each woman can certainly take care of herself. Nail care products are available both in drugstores and pharmacies. Beautiful, healthy and well-groomed nails can be decorated on your own – or rely on the stylist’s experience.
